March – April: Wake-Up Inspection

Walk the house after winter. Look for gutters pulled away from the fascia, downspouts disconnected by ice, and debris the winter winds delivered. Check that downspout extensions survived the winter and still point away from the house. Note anything odd for the spring visit — or call us for a standalone inspection if the winter was rough.

May – June: The Spring Cleaning

The first big service of the year. Clear the oak tassels, maple seeds, and poplar pods before they mat into a waterproof layer. Flush every run, clear every downspout, check hangers and seams for winter damage, inspect the fascia. This cleaning prepares the system for summer storm season. See our spring guide for the full checklist.

July – August: Storm Watch

Thunderstorm season. After any major storm, do a ground-level check: downspouts still connected? Any new sagging? Water stains appearing on siding? You do not need a ladder for this — just your eyes during the next rain. If something looks off between visits, plan members can call us anytime.

September – October: Pre-Drop Prep

The early droppers start — walnuts, some maples. Make sure your fall cleaning is scheduled (plan members: it already is). This is also the time to trim branches back from the roofline if you have been putting it off, and to confirm downspout discharge points are clear of the leaf piles starting to accumulate.

November – December: The Fall Cleaning

The big one. After the oaks and maples finish dropping, clear everything before winter: full scoop, flush, downspout clearing, hanger and seam check, fascia check, drainage confirmation, valley clearing. Gutters go into winter empty and ready. See our fall checklist for everything this visit covers.

January – February: Leave Them Alone

If the fall cleaning happened, there is nothing to do but let the gutters work. Do not knock icicles off with force — you will damage the gutters. If ice dams form, the problem is attic heat, not gutters; read our ice dam guide. Call us only if you see damage — a section pulled loose, a downspout torn off.

Put the Calendar on Autopilot

This calendar works — but only if someone follows it. Our twice-yearly maintenance plan is this calendar with the remembering removed: spring and fall visits scheduled automatically, reminders before each, and storm-season eyes on call. You never touch a ladder or a calendar again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need to do something every season?

The two professional visits — spring and fall — are the core. The rest is just paying attention: a glance after storms, scheduling the fall visit on time. The plan handles the remembering.

What if I missed the fall cleaning and it is already winter?

Call us — we clean gutters in winter when conditions are safe. Late is better than never; full gutters plus ice is the combination that causes real damage.

Does the plan follow this calendar exactly?

Yes. Plan visits land in the spring window (May–June) and the fall window (late November–December), timed to Bethesda's actual debris seasons.
